It’s December! I’m not really sure how we’ve got to December if I’m honest, in my mind we’re still somewhere in March. The arrival of December may be muted this year, with Covid-19 putting pay to most celebrations. But, not all festive traditions have to be cancelled. Advent calendars don’t. This is why I’ve created a personal finance advent calendar for you.
The only time money or finance is usually mentioned at Christmas is in relation to spending far too much of it. So, I decided to try and show how saving money can be both fun and festive.
You can now get chocolate advent calendars, gin, beer or other alcoholic calendars and even ones for your pets. So why not have a personal finance advent calendar too?
In this post I will cover:
- What is it?
- What to expect from your personal finance advent calendar
- Where to find your personal finance advent calendar
- How to get involved
What is it?
Essentially, it’s an advent calendar like any other. Each day between the 1st and 24th December, a new window will be opened.
However, unlike most advent calendars, you won’t receive a chocolate or small gift each day. Instead, you will receive a link, tip, or video that will help improve your finances.
This means, come Christmas Day, you’ll have 24 new (hopefully) ideas to transform your personal finances.
The wonderful graphics you’ll see on social media have been designed by my very talented friend Roshni. You can find more examples of her work at @studio_rpatel
What to expect from your personal finance advent calendar
Each window will open to reveal something different, but all will have a strong personal finance link.
Your personal finance advent calendar will include: simple tips and tricks you may not have considered; giveaways; links to discounts and bonus gifts; exclusive videos; and competitions. Sadly, you can’t receive chocolate directly from your phone or laptop. Otherwise, I would have included that too!
This will by no means be a comprehensive personal finance guide or a flashy advent calendar you may find in stores. But it is designed to be fun and bring some festive cheer to your finances.
Where to find your personal finance advent calendar
You can access the calendar anytime and from anywhere – providing you have a mobile device, tablet or laptop on you.
The full calendar, complete with links, pictures and videos will be displayed on my blog. I will also be revealing each day across social media as we count down to Christmas.

How to get involved
This is the easy part!
All you have to do is keep an eye out each day for the social media and accompanying blog posts. If you like what you’re seeing please also like and share it with your friends and followers. I’d love to connect as many people as possible and grow the community we’re creating.
There will also be giveaways and competitions as the calendar goes on. The rules of this will be announced in due course, so for now, just look out for the posts as they come.
I hope you enjoy the calendar and get some useful tips and tricks out of it.
If you found this post interesting, please like it and share across social media or send it to your friends. I’d also love to hear your thoughts. Have you ever had a personal finance advent calendar before? Are you going to be following it closely?
